Our History

Founded in 2001 by Jeff Meuzelaar, Musical Edge specializes in high-end wedding entertainment, event lighting design, teen events, and nightlife entertainment. Since the company’s inception, Musical Edge has grown to a team of three members in Sioux Falls, SD and a team of six members in Des Moines, IA. At Musical Edge, our approach is simple – to offer our clients modern entertainment, without the cheese. We’re fun, easy to work with, and we would love to learn more about the special event you’re planning.

Jeff Meuzelaar

As the founder and owner of Musical Edge, Jeff has a deep knowledge of all things related to the DJ industry. He is an established nightlife DJ, experienced wedding DJ, and a respected thought leader within the national DJ industry. Jeff has the knowledge, precision, and attention to detail to effortlessly walk clients through their event planning process.

Chris Parsley

Chris Parsley, aka DJ Nutz, has been in the DJ industry from the age of 14. He’s DJ’d over 400 weddings throughout South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. He has held club residencies across several states and a is a proven audio / lighting expert. From start to finish, Chris ensures all events go off without a hitch.

Justin Van Kooten

Justin joined the Musical Edge team in 2006, working for us primarily out of Sioux Center, IA and Des Moines, IA while attending Dordt College. Justin graduated in 2010 with a degree in business and moved to Sioux Falls to continue work with Musical Edge. Justin is passionate about music and specializes in working with our young adult wedding clients.
